Lowen Pascoe
Bright flat folk illustration of Cornish seaside objects
Lowen Pascoe paints and screen-prints from a studio above a Porthleven sail loft. After years in textile and surface design she turned to a flatter, bolder folk-illustration style, distilling the props of the Cornish seaside into clean joyful shapes that read across a room.
Lowen Pascoe makes Cornwall feel like a sunny day out — rows of pastel beach huts, bunting, striped deckchairs, fishing boats nodding in the harbour, lobster pots and buckets and spades. Her work is bright, flat and graphic, built from bold simple shapes and cheerful contemporary-folk colour. Cheerful seaside still life and scenes, never a soul in sight.
